HTTYD Lovin'--Thank You. by toerning HTTYD Lovin'--Thank You. by toerning
Well you guys, I don't even know where to start. It's been a long time since a movie made this much of an impact on me. Like, LOTR long time ago. And when it comes down to it, really, it's just a movie. But there are certain things that people attatch to for whatever reason, and HTTYD is mine.

This movie has rekindled my faith in the state of American animation, inspired me WELL beyond the kick I needed to get me out of my art slump, and for lack of a less hideously corny phrase, made me excited about doing things with my life. Not to mention, it has had an alarmingly influential hand in restoring a really important friendship. I feel so weird putting all this in writing but seriously folks, this is lifechanging shit.

So thank you to everyone who had even the slightest hand in making this film. Thank you to the guy who got everyone's coffee so they could keep working.

And then there's YOU GUYS. Thank you for making a piece of mine no 1 on the front page! Never imagined that would ever happen hahaha. Seriously though, The support I get and contacts I make on this site is so so so important to me, and I wish there was more I could give back.

THANK YOU EVERYONE, GOOD NIGHT!

UPDATE: THANK YOU KIKARIZ, who has bought me a subscription!!! YOU GUYS ARE WAY TOO NICE

I really love how you chose to say thank you with this particular work. :)

(Ha, guess what I'm watching tomorrow. :P YES VACATIONS=time to watch all the movies I want.)

I kind of don't have a lot to say about this. The art is excellent as always (the brush strokes! *__* oh, the brush strokes!) and, well. This film! I really liked reading what you had to say about it and I was touched - I understand what you described. *__* HTTYD came second that (amazing and inspiring) week but it still made a great impact on me.

Great works, all of them! I'm sorry if you have already been asked this. But I am an aspiting digital artist and I am wondering what programs you used to make this work, and perhaps a few pointers to go with them?
Thanks so much, you are a huge inspiration.

Thanks for your interest! I sketch and ink traditionally, and then color digitally in photoshop. Here is a link to a brief walk-through of a simple digital coloring process I used for this piece among others: [link]

good luck!

HTTYD was the same way for me, now I don't feel so bad being in love with a 'kid's movie'. I hope all animation continues in this direction. Did you know next year there will be a sequel :D And there is a cartoon coming too.

How to train your Dragon! Amazing movie based off of a book. It's a movie about a viking "runt" named Hiccup, who catches a dragon (enemies of the village), befriends, and trains the dragon.
Trailer: [link]

Definately my favorite dreamworks movie of all time! Got really good reviews, and emotionally captivates audiences. Worth seeing . . . worth seeing a hundred times.

This is a picture of Hiccup, the hero, being hugged by Astrid, his crush.

holy cow i'm in the exact same boat. it feels like it should be just a movie, but it isn't. it's so much more and i can't help but love it so much. it sort of re-inspired my interest in nature, and that sort of innate curiosity we all used to have as kids. so literally, day after i saw it, i went out and climbed a huge tree and just stayed there for a while. then i went out looking for frogs and bugs and birds nests. it was kind of amazing, i felt 7 years old again.

I just saw this for the first time today, and spent a good hour re-finding your channel. Love your stuff, I might draw something if it helps me get out of my own art slump, and I shall do what I should have don a while ago...*clicks deviantwatch button*

Wow, I love this!

Let's see here. You've really nailed the traditional comic style and I think you did a wonderful job with the clothes and Astrid's expression. It's also a heartwarming picture so that just tops the cake off with chocolate chips. =)

Nice work!

I watched this movie on an international 20 hour flight. Listening to the music as the credits rolled, bathed in morning light above the clouds – it was amazing. It had pretty much the same affect on me.
