part 1 of some experiments on no-reference painting, embracing dramatic lighting, and painting from form and color (vs. Sketch) and entirely plain hard brush usage
probably like 4 hours photoshop. This was so much fun, the first portrait of its kind i've ever done. For whos wonderful asoiaf art got me off my ass to do some of my own.
<edit> *SPOILERS!!!* How could i forget this?!?! I wanted to point out specifically in his character design that i gave him slanty bedroom eyes because i think he is the son of Lyanna and Rhaegar, not Ned. With my luck, this is probably an established theory, but i was very proud of myself for thinking it up. anyway yeah. </edit>
Ooooo! Very nice! I'd say that these experiments have been very successful. Beautiful lighting, and I love his expression and eyes. They;re very soulful.
