<edit 1/23> I forgot to mention, for a slightly more accurate, if really poorly reproduced, version of the final lighting scheme, check out a painting of mine that used the described light source: [link] </edit>

I'll say it again, this is just a collection of thoughts about color and light that I was thinking about today. I was doing a bunch of color studies and decided just to share some of the stuff I've been thinking about...

This is no. 1 of my inner monologue of useless not-tutorials entitled "Tricks To Make It Look Like You Know What You're Doing."

I will ACTUALLY do some art soon, really, as soon as I solve this paint tool sai problem.

<EDIT 5/26> wow i am ashamed that I JUST noticed the DD on this business. Thank you, everyone!!!</EDIT>

The Suggester writes: A Note on Light and Colour by *toerning is truly a fascinating tutorial about color combination and overall feel. There are times when your anatomy is perfect, details, background too, but there's just something missing! And most of the time that something could be the color scheme. And no matter how much you edit it, it will never be as good and natural as the first one. I really think this note on light and color should be read by as many as possible!! Thank you for sharing. Fantastic. This is really useful and puts things so simply. It is much better than alot of the art texts that I have. Thanks for posting it.

A lot of tutorials l've seen around are 'how to draw', 'how to ink', and things in that genre- more like tutorials than theory lessons. l think this would be way more useful in general, since colour practice is important whether you're working digitally or not.
Really good work!

Hello, this is Auryn from the VD clinic. Speaking of being postive, your test results are back in. Stop sharing the love.

This actually helped me out a lot, especially concerning all the light/shadow information. I have a hard time getting a lot of that in my head...so it's nice to see some examples x3 I'll definitely have to try this out! As soon as I can build up my courage D: I always get really scared to try new things, LOL.

P.S. I love the last head sample, hehe.
